Kona's Native Hawaiian Flowers: Alahe'e

Alahe’e (Psydrax odorata), an indigenous member of the coffee family, produces clusters of very fragrant white flowers after periods of rainfall. In Kona, there are large numbers below Kealakehe that perfume the air for miles around when they are in bloom. The flowers in both pictures were no more than 20 feet away from a major road. Queen Kaahumanu Highway on the top, and Palani Road on the bottom.
